What …

Another day begins in Singapore with the floor-to-ceiling windows in my suite on the 19th floor at One Ferrar Resort & Spa framing a view that stretches across the island’s southern neighbourhoods to the Singapore Strait in the distance.

From my window-side perch I can see Little India which is one of Singapore’s three heritage districts and the modern towers of the financial district as well as landmarks like the Singapore Flyer, glass domes on the edge of Gardens by the Bay, and the long rooftop deck at Marina Bay Sands.

I can also see two of the Lion City’s new architecture icons with The Pinnacle @ Duxton – an innovative social housing project with a top-floor deck that boasts a lofty park and running track connecting the towers – and a recent build near Raffles Place that’s a new leader in environmentally-friendly design with an internal vertical tunnel and vacuum that sucks air inside to naturally cool the internal spaces.

My perch provides the perfect opportunity to see how Singapore manages progress, balancing heritage and culture with the desire to build big and modern structures.
