THE Academy, YTL Hotels’ new London property, will be completed in April with the first images promising something special.
The hotel occupies five Georgian townhouses in the heart of Bloomsbury – the trendy neighbourhood north of the Thames that’s home to The British Museum – with 50 elegant guest rooms as well as a selection of bars and restaurants including The Alchemy Bar and The Refectory.
A YTL media release says guests can expect to see “bespoke furnishings in rich velvets and leather, jewel tones, coloured walls, fanciful patterns and visually engaging tile floors” with the design coming together to “create a glamorous yet supremely comfortable home-from-home ambience”.
“Renowned New York-based designer Alexandra Champalimaud is overseeing the refurbishment of The Academy, creating an engaging blend of modern and vintage with a nod to the lives and loves of the Bloomsbury Set who lived and worked in the area in the early 20th Century,” the document explains.
“Large sash windows ensure guest rooms feel light and airy while elegant light fittings, large mirrors, patterned wallpaper, timeless furniture, comfortable velvet chairs and marble bathrooms set the tone for a relaxed and sophisticated space.”
While we’re yet to see inside here are some artist impressions on what the first guests will see when they arrive in April.
