MELBOURNE IN ITS ELEMENT
SUBURBAN Melbourne is home to Australia’s first Element by Westin with Element Melbourne Richmond opening its doors this month.
The brand, which belongs to the Marriott International family, is promoted as a longer-stay option boasting an “eco-conscious ethos and commitment to helping Healthy (and) active guests maintain a balanced lifestyle while travelling”.
The hotel sits beside the Yarra River in the new Botanicca Corporate Park — 6km from the heart of Melbourne, close to the Swan Street shopping and dining precinct, and a short hop from the Melbourne Cricket Ground — with “all aspects of the property designed to provide guests with a place to unwind and recharge”.

“A curved façade reflects the winding Yarra River while tones inspired by the Australian flora sit throughout all interior spaces connecting guests with the locale,” a company media release explains.
“Oversized windows provide an abundance of natural light, and eco-conscious touches such as energy-saving LED lighting, CO2 sensors monitoring air quality and water-saving taps and fixtures play into the brand’s philosophy.”
Each of Element Melbourne Richmond’s 163 guest rooms and five deluxe balcony king rooms boats Westin’s Heavenly Bed and high-speed wifi while a selection of suites feature an energy-efficient kitchenette ideal for those planning a longer visit or seeking a self-catering stay in Melbourne.
There’s an “innovative multifunctional dining space” that serves breakfast before transforming into Mint Lane Restaurant & Bar for lunch and dinner with the menu featuring “modern Australian fare using fresh local ingredients”.
And for those on the go Restore is the grab-and-go pantry open 24 hours for guests to purchase the essentials as well as snacks to prepare in their chamber.

“We’re excited to be bringing a new experience to the Australian market catering to the eco-conscious traveller who is looking to maintain a balanced lifestyle when on the road,” says Element Melbourne Richmond general manager Harry Singh.
“From our spacious guest rooms to our wholesome food options and amenities, (and) no matter how long a guest stays, Element Melbourne Richmond ensures time away from home doesn’t mean time away from life.”
