PENINSULA’S MANILA UPGRADE
THE Peninsula Manila is ready to receive a revamp with the work taking aesthetic place across the third quarter of 2019.
The soft renovation of the hotel in the heart of the Makati Central Business District will be most extensive work undertaken since 2008 and promises to deliver “a new level of modern luxury for the comfort of its guests”.
“The refreshed and contemporary look will continue to complement the timeless Filipino character of the guest rooms while including warmer, brighter and lighter colours, materials and fabrics,” a company media release notes.
“Enhanced technology touch points such as bedside control panels, HDT-screen televisions, and more accessible power outlets, will also be added.”

Guest floors will be updated, with enhancements evident from the foyers and corridors through to the studios and multi-room suites, and a private lounge will soon complete the famous third floor.
The Gallery Club Lounge will stay open around the clock to serve food and drink — hot buffet breakfast, The Peninsula Afternoon Tea, all-day nibbles, an open bar stocked with sommelier-selected wines — and host local musicians providing live entertainment.

The seven-month renovation will result in a reduced number of rooms at the address, with the inventory of chambers dropping from 469 to 351 during work that will be completed in phases.
“This long-anticipated renovation has been planned with the intention of keeping The Peninsula Manila relevant and distinctive for our guests, without losing its charm,” says general manager Mark J Choon.
“Our challenge was to succeed at maintaining a balance between the much-loved ‘old’ and innovation of the “new”, breathing new life into an institution, and (we) are confident our guests — and all of Manila — will be able to enjoy the results of our efforts.”
