JETSTAR TO COOK ISLAND
JETSTAR is expanding its international network by launching direct flights between Australia and the Cook Islands.
The new non-stop service between Sydney and Rarotonga will commence on June 29, 2023, with the airline deploying its newest aircraft – the new generation longer-range Airbus A321neo LR – on the two weekly return flights.

Jetstar CEO Stephanie Tully describes Rarotonga as a “stunning tropical island” with the low-cost carrier expecting the new service to dramatically increase the number of Australians venturing to the Cook Islands during 2023.
“We’re excited to introduce our great low fares on this new route ahead of next year’s winter school holidays, offering Australians the opportunity to escape the cold and explore one of the most beautiful destinations in the South Pacific,” Ms Tully says.
“The direct Sydney to Rarotonga will be our second route to the popular island, but the first from Australia, and we thank the Cook Islands Government for their ongoing support.”

The Cook Islands already welcomes more than 29,000 visitors from Australia every year, and the additional Jetstar capacity from June 2023 will allow the destination to flourish in the wake of the pandemic.
Cook Islands Prime Minister Mark Brown describes the location as “the ultimate tropical island destination renowned for some of the world’s most incredible crystal-clear waters” and notes his country’s culture, cuisine, activities, and lifestyle is attractive to Aussie travellers.
“tourism was the backbone of its economy, contributing 75 percent of GDP, and we are delighted Jetstar is making this commitment to the Cook Islands,” he says.
“The new services from Jetstar will provide a major boost to our tourism sector and the financial impact for local tourism operators and the nation is significant.”
The flights will depart Sydney at 9.30pm on a Thursday and Sunday before crossing the International Date Line to arrive in Rarotonga at 7am the same day. The return service then departs Rarotonga at 9am to touch down back in Sydney at 12.30pm the following day.
