HOTEL Hotel – a boutique address in Canberra’s New Acton neighbourhood which is a favourite with locals when it’s time to wine and dine – is quickly becoming the place to stay in the national capital.
The hotel is packed with character, almost every item in the building tells a story, and a swag of local craftspeople were commissioned to create pieces unique to the hotel.
The Canberra address is the brainchild of the Molonglo Group, a development company headed by brothers Johnathan and Nectar Efkarpidis who champion a collaborative design process, with the work of around 100 artists and designers featuring in the finished product.
There is a collection of room types, from snug inside boxes that look into the internal atrium to bright suites boasting views across Lake Burley Griffin, and every chamber is packed with tactile surfaces.
One early design critic, visiting the property to judge it for a prestigious architecture award, noted the “playful” way the timber and concrete combined made the hotel “sing”.
