THERE’S now another option for mid-scale accommodation in the Maldives with Accor opening the Mercure Maldives Kooddoo on August 20.
The property is located in the Gaafu Alifu Atoll, on an island celebrated for lush greenery and pristine beaches, and is conveniently close to Kooddoo domestic airport which eliminates the need to complete a speedboat journey to reach the hotel.
Mercure Maldives Kooddoo offers guests the choice of 68 villas – there are 43 over-water villas and 25 beach villas with 20 of the guest suites feature a private plunge pond – with the “sunset over water pool villas” considered to be the highlight of the accommodation offering.
There is aa plethora of dining options including all-day eating at Alita Restaurant, an over-water address at Vistas which serves tapas and bespoke cocktails, and the Alita Pool Bar perfectly situated to enjoy the sunset light show.
Guests also have access to the PADI Dive & Water Sports Centre offering adventures to the best dive sites around the atoll, everything from snorkeling and sailing to kayaking and windsurfing, a 50m lagoon-side pool, and Kids’ Club.
Staff will also arrange day trips to surrounding islands and sunset fishing excursions while those seeking land-based activities can occupy the tennis court and fitness facilities.
“Mercure Kooddoo offers our guests an authentic and friendly experience that allows them to discover the diversity of the island’s sights, sounds, and scenes with Maldivian hospitality,” says the property’s general manager Scott Bowen.
“We look forward to welcoming travellers who seek high level of comfort, service and quality synonymous to the Mercure brand combined with the Maldivian culture and the spirit of travel.”
